Angel- The Caterer

My first time to Singapore with my sister was quite a lot of fun actually. This time's trip is for my pre-wedding photo shoot. I had to bring her along as I knew I was gonna need her there, you know : to wipe my sweat, to fan me when it's scorching hot during the photo shoot, to bring me water. In short, her job description is to cater to me.
LOLOLOLS.

Well, don't worry sis, the second trip in the future, I WILL CATER TO YOU!!!!

It was a five-day trip but most of the time was used for the a fore-mentioned shoot. Didn't really get much time to hang around the place and goof around and go crazy.
I can say it's not really a holiday, cause it was super exhausting and tiring I didn't even bother to take pictures. That explains the few pics posted.
But, it was still a fun trip. :D

So sad huh, this was the second time we went abroad together, considering we're really not that young anymore (but we're not that old either okay).
Holidaying together is never really an agenda in our family though. That fact apart, we all are pretty close to one another.

The size is a bit smaller compared with the other pics, but I am so tired at the moment and I'm too lazy to resize it so just let it be. Besides, we three looked too awesome here with our summery, color-coordinated outfit I'm sure the picture size doesn't even matter anymore.

Color Blocking

What's more fun than playing with colors?
Especially now that summer is in the air, it's the perfect time to clash colors. Well actually, even if summer ain't in the air, it is still fine to do so. After all, we don't have autumn and winter here and it IS always summer in our country, you know what I mean? :D
Hot, sunny, humid are three adjectives representing the weather here.

This is us, after watching Scream 4, which is one of the most ridiculous movies ever.

Clashing mint green with purple with some turquoise accessories.

I took the shoe laces out because this pair's really really tight on my feet. Besides, I think they kinda look cuter without the laces on.

I love the combination of the orange thin belt and the blue flat shoes very much here.

Then, there's cream and blue color block dress and peach over-sized envelope clutch.

White blazer proves very effective to cover huge giant attention-seeking arms. :D :D :D
And I love my wooden strappy clogs!!!! Despite the 4-inch height, they're really comfortable to walk in. No kidding.

And a little presence of yellow on the nails!!! :D :D :D
Zooming on the belt because the buckle is really cute : ribbon shaped!!!

Then, trying on some navy high-waist, wide-legged pants with white top.

And the orange waist belt has rested in my drawer for almost one year from the day I bought it, before I finally wore it with this pair of pants.
Now, give me some credit for being really good at hoarding.

Initially, I was going to wear this pale mint dress with the golden cut-out waist belt for my pre-wedding photo shoot. However after a second thought, it ended up becoming a grocery-shopping dress.
The color is really soft that it almost looks washed-out, so I decided to add a red pendant necklace. The popping red is meant to make the pale mint color less boring.

The "desert-craving Fran" night

I've always found this two colors very interesting.

Can you not love this red wedges? Too cute to resist!!!!

Another wide-legged pants. This time in red.
Red and green always makes people think of Christmas. But I think with a tactful placement of the two colors, one won't look very much like a Santa Claus under a Christmas tree wearing them.

Don't Wash Me Out

Beige is not really my thing.
Personally, I think it's a color that gives off that "expensive" aura, but too bad, I just don't look good in it.
I also happen to think that these colors (like beige, white, black, navy) are dull, BUT they are also oh-so-expensive kinda color and they sort of interpret high fashion. That's how I see it.
And if you do pay attention, most elegant women always wear monotone colors
And as for me, I look like a joke in these colors. They kinda make me look washed off, not to mention wide and vast, and also BIG, or something like that. LOL

Some random pics that include these colors or a splash of these colors :

1. Beige + black

I think I really looked lifeless in these colors. Boring.

2. Gray + navy

The tee has a big pink lace heart sewn in the middle, which I think made a good accent to the basic colors.

Learning from the first beige + black combination which really lacks life, I wore a big over-sized earrings with this second color group.
The earrings actually had a sprinkle of purple in the center, but it isn't quite clear here.

3. Black/white + red

I know red isn't in the group of colors I mentioned above. And actually, I was thinking of wearing this bold-collared blouse with cream pants. However, I really needed some color to make it feel more me. So, red pants.
It certainly felt a lot more like me!!! :D :D :D

I Came To See You, Honey

So last month, my boyfriend and I went to Singapore. It was a fun three-day trip. If I could, I would like to make it a three-month trip. But then, I might probably grow tired of the country if I did stay there for too long. The excited part of a being in a trip is because it IS a trip and it can't last too long. Am I right?

Had I worn it here, people would look at me like I was some kind of lunatic. That's the worst thing about living in Medan. You express yourself a bit, people stare, talk and whisper.

The electric blue baggy pants are awesome buy. Love love love.

First stop for the day, Vivo City. Love the food and the shops there.... :)

Actually, the food is just okay. I am just working on some stupid "OMG so yummy" pose.

Trust me. I didn't drool a bit. It just looked like I did.

I love this place, day and night. Never quiet, never dead, always full of fashionable people.
Love spending time there, just sit and do nothing.

Marina Bay Sands. The first time I'd been there. So stupid I didn't know there's a mall inside the building. I thought MBS is just a hotel with a casino and a roof top swimming pool.

Do you love my bug-alike shades from Forever 21? I don't think it suits my face, but it's so cheap.
Forever 21 is the right place to stop by if you want to grab the latest fashion items at affordable prices.

Braided my hair. I hadn't combed it for three days straight because I forgot to bring a comb and I didn't want to buy one because I thought it was pointless to spend some dollars on a comb.
Better choose to spend it over a unique ring or necklace. HAHAHA.

And these are some accessories I got from Diva. Blue bangle, dragonfly necklace and precious stone ring (that's what the salesgirl said, although I'm not quite sure if the stone is really precious. Can I resell it? Don't think so....)

And I got a rose....... :D :D :D

He's getting better at making faces, huh? LOL

And that's the end of the trip. Waiting to board the plane after having some high-tension argument with the custom officers over some ridiculously minor thing, which was really not that big a deal.

The "Once Upon A Month or Two" Post

These photos were taken like long time ago. Just got some time to sort out and edit them. :)
I wish there were 60hrs in a day, but then if we really do have 60hrs in a day, I would ask for 100hrs. Greed talk :D

I remembered those photos were taken when my sister celebrated her birthday back in 20 April or so.

The blazer was from really cute. Fran has one too, but in different color. :)
We got it from our favorite local online shop, Just Wanderlust.
I got the orange shorts is from Zara. Spring is in the air, so must bring back colors to my wardrobe.
(You know the previous sentence is meaningless, because no matter what season it is, I am always drawn to colors. LOL)

And the following, I seriously don't remember.

The beige tutu dress is again,from Just Wanderlust, which is actually the one and only online shop I always drop by to do some shopping. And I literally need to shed a few kgs off before I can fit in decently into this dress. The fabric just makes my belly fat look even more hideous than it already is. :D

And this black chiffon top, is, yes, from Just Wanderlust again. And if I'm not mistaken, Fran got one too, but in peach or pink, I don't remember.
I really like the zipper accent on the sleeves. I just love visible zippers.

The camel pumps are from June+Julia, a local shoe-maker.
Fran has one too. We two are disgusting max, I know.
The shoes are okay actually, given the fact that the price is considered cheap for platforms like these. However, I don't find the material appealing. The fake suede peeled off a bit too easily, showing the white base evidently.
So now mine has become camel platforms with white spots here and there.
The blue satin mary-jane I ordered from them have a better quality.

This vintage-ish top with bold collars are one of many tops that I reaa....lly like.
These hot-looking pumps, I have to say, are not really comfortable to walk in, but again, girls will do just anything to make things work.

And last but not least, accordion pleats.
This pleated green skirt actually has red dots on the surface. But I didn't take a close-up shoot of the dots. They are kinda cute, small red dots with green background, feels like Christmas, no? LOL
I can say that at the moment, my biggest crush is pleats and more pleats. I have some other pleated skirts waiting patiently in my wardrobe. Just thinking of pleats makes me pleased.
("Pleats" and "pleased" kinda rhymes, doesn't it?)
The beige fringed top is from Just Wanderlust.
(And someone gimme an award for "Over-obsessed over Just Wanderlust" category).
Whatever that means.

And the red wedges, just look at them, I mean, can you say no to such pretty stuff? The tag line is like "OMG YOU ARE ONE CRAZY BITCH IF YOU DON'T FALL FOR ME".
Well, I know I am exaggerating. I AM the crazy bitch for creating such stupid tag line and treating items as if they could talk.

I've always loved the European street styles. Sprinkles of something preppy, something chic, something effortless, something classic and some attitude make the whole look screams WHOAAAA....CRAZY ASS THING!!!! or IYESHHHH....THAT ROCKS!!!! or MANNN, COOL............!!!!!

So on a dinner night with Angel and Angela, I grabbed this (peterpan collar blouse) and that (navy dress) and this (oxford ankle boots) from my wardrobe and put them together and this is it : Preppy Chic in my version. :D

I've been thinking of wearing my layered pearl necklace for some time. Gotta admit pearl necklace is a bit difficult to pull as you don't want to look old wearing it. Minimizing other accessories is the best way to avoid looking like you are a granny wearing pearls with lots of Botox. LOL.

When I first saw this Topshop mustard tiered peter pan collar blouse (what a long name), I was love struck.
I was in a Kuala Lumpur mall and I had been spending too long time already in this Topshop outlet and everyone was already waiting for me to finish my shopping and on my way to the cashier I spotted the blouse and I just grabbed it without even trying it on. LOL. It's all about spontaneity and speed, huh?

Love at first sight is never wrong :D

And then there's this satin mary jane I ordered from June + Julia :

Online Shop Attack

You know there are lots of online shops offering shoe making service recently.
It's like gambling, if you're lucky enough, your shoe request will pretty much meet your expectation.

Like this pair, it copied the model of YSL tribute. I can say that I neither love nor hate the result. The heels aren't shaky and overall it's acceptable for a 200,000 something IDR shoes. :D
And most importantly, they are not fake shoes. In my opinion, it's just like Topshop copying Givenchy's chiffon wedges or other high street brands copying other designers' stuff, you know what I mean.

And you can see that the result is way way way different in many ways from the authentic ones, especially when craftsmanship is the subject. You know one thing is never wrong : Price never lies.

YSL Tribute Suede Sandals

Not bad, except that I hate the straps, the color is too contrast from the fake suede

Actually there is one other pair which I ordered from a different online shop which made this pair, but the result is too hideous, so hideous that I can't lay my eyes on it for the second time.

Was expecting a girly fringe strappy suede heels, instead what came wasn't even close to fringes, but resembling thick creme rice noodles (and it took two months to make such horrible pair of shoes). I'm super disappointed and don't even bother to text her to complain.
Didn't take the picture because my camera will suffer from malfunction capturing such horrified object.

So, if you like, you can visit Myhobbyshop on Facebook to order some shoes you like. They provide various shoe models for you to choose. However, I recommend you not to order from ShoeVettish Shop cause you might end up receiving rice noodle shop like I did.

Talking about shopping online, Fran and I are truly avid lovers. Honestly, we never get people who DON'T love online shopping because IT IS SO FREAKIN' FUN.

Hi I'm back from some good holiday.

So hard trying to build a post with roughly 1800 files to choose from, so I'm gonna concentrate on outfit post and several random ones.

SO frickin lazy to photoshop, so everything is done halfassedly. Sorry * Ra-him style* ( If you watched Secretgarden series, you would know ha).

Nice shoes, hurt like mad. Changed to the good ol' sandals.
Oh and we haz arrived in Bali.

2nd day, some sightseeing. I REALLY like this top. It's called Amber.
Tops nowadays have the nicest names, shame on us humans with plain names.

We played some water sports and dove, thus the bikini underneath then changed to the grey floral mini dress. I quite like!

I thought tutu skirt would look hideous on me. Well, not that hideous, I suppose. Hahaha.

Celebrating Lunar New Year has always been one of the most exciting moments for me. I've always loved the festival. Of course, one of the many reasons why I love it is because I get to play all dressed-up.
Well, outfits don't have to be super exquisite or extra-ordinary because somehow in the end what's the most important is the spirit of the new year itself.
All wise up, am I right or am I right? :D

Dark red vintage motif dress with lace collar.
Most Chinese always wear red outfit on the first day. I don't like to be one of the many, so trust me when I tell you that it's not planned. The dress that suited my mood that day happened to be red. And thank God, it has motif and lace collar ,making it not giving off the smell of "I AM CELEBRATING CHINESE NEW YEAR TODAY OKAY" too obviously.

Sorting through pictures from the Blackberry. Don't you just love how you can whoop out a camera and snap pictures away?

This is back in May'10, I remember because it's Min's birthday and because this pic gave me a glimpse of chance that I might actually be thin!

Lace (further) Affair

I've worn this lace top before, but with different footwear and bottom. A friend told Fran that she thinks that probably Fran and I never wear the same things twice. Actually we do. It's just when I wear the same item again, I don't feel like taking pictures anymore.
And in fact, I always wear my clothes several times before I pass them to my cousins or my maids (but they are still in good condition when given away, okay).

I finally get a pair of deep green shoes. They're pumps and they're pointy!!! Just what I expected!!!!

HELLOWWW.... this is a very laid-back look. Nothing showy about it. We were going for some grocery shopping that night.
Perhaps in her mind, grocery shopping = t-shirt + shorts + flip flop. HELLOWWWW again..... we're going to the mall not to the wet market.

Look at these pretty cupcakes I got from my student's mom. There's another but not as cute as this so I didn't take the picture (nevertheless I deeply appreciate these parents' good intention).

Fran and I do are going to do gift-exchanging again this year. I'm so excited with what she is getting for me. Will certainly blog about it once we've done exchanging.

Don't wait long to wear my new polkadot knee-length dress. Just got it a couple of days ago and I am strutting with it already today.

This chiffon floral top used to belong to my mom. I raided her wardrobe again to look for some vintage stuff. This one is my most favorite.

I wore the chiffon top with navy maxi dress. To avoid looking like a rice sack, I cinched up on waist, then let the top hung loose.

Weekends Getaway

A couple of weeks ago, we four had fun at Kuala Lumpur. Although, it was a short trip -from Friday to Sunday-that didn't keep us from shopping like mad. Actually, I DIDN'T shop like mad, it was my boyfriend's sister in law did. Hahaha. She certainly made good use of all the time she had. :D

Three days is actually too short for me, cause I want to make sure all my purchase worth the Ringgit. So I shopped very little, seriously. Besides, I'm aware that it is just a thin line that separates what you ACTUALLY need and what you want. I no longer want to splurge on stuff I'm not sure I want. So, yes people, this is the (cough...cough....) sensible me speaking.
Well...... :D :D :D

So anyway, Kuala Lumpur is full in spirit of celebrating Lunar New Year. Lots of landmarks are decorated with bright red rabbit thingy ornaments, Barong lions, huge drums, lanterns etc etc. Wish Indonesia had the same spirit, in terms of decoration.

Passers-by stared at us while we were taking this one. As if staring wasn't enough, some of them still felt the need to turn the heads after they'd walked past. Okay, I get it, you cave people never saw cute chicks before, especially we were Oh-So-Fresh-Like-Morning-Dew. That explains why we had so few pictures taken at KL.

Last day. Waiting for the taxi to take us to the airport. Wearing pink hair clips I got from the other day.

At the airport. I don't like the airport either. Chocolate stores are found in almost every corner of the airport, as far as the eyes can see. Boring max!!! And again, I can't help comparing everything I found in KL with Singapore. I miss Singapore badly. T_T

That explains why I sat at the entrance of a chocolate store, feeling so bored to death waiting for our flight announcement.

This December, my brother and my cousin got married. They are both younger than me. Hahaha. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get married, cause you know, marriage seems to be the last thing on my mind, really.

Well, anw, I wish them (my brother and my cousin and their spouses) the very best of marriage life. And I am really looking forward to have a niece or a nephew!!!! I bet my brother's kids will be uber cute, cause you know, cuteness runs in our gene, like always. LOL.

It's one day before New Year. Time flies as it has always been, huh. It's been a long and short year for me.
Honestly, 2010 has been damn good to me. And I hope it has been equally good to all the others. There are times when we don't realize how lucky we have been and we constantly complain on minor things. Well, I myself is quite a complainer too, which I know isn't a good attitude and I promise myself to be less demanding on trivial matters.
Looking back on all the good and bad times, I realize this year has been so.....really............good to me. I am eternally grateful for all the bless I've been given.
Okay, I'm gonna stop preaching now or else ppl are gonna start puking.

Well, enough talking crap. I love December and these are the December me :

Resolution 2011

In the perfect world, we make resolutions and they get done. But in reality, we make them period. Ok sometimes they got accomplished, but you get the gist.

So, here goes some of my resolution for 2011! Beauty and dressing up wise :)

1. Continue the beauty ritual effort

My current "ritual" set :

1. Bodyshop Vitamin E complete set of facial and moisturizer ( day and night cream)
2. Hada Labo Face Lotion
3. Eucerin face toner
4. Lancome Genifique Youth Activator ( mine is a tube sample version, not as pictured)
5. Bio oil
6. Vaseline for lip therapy
7. Olay eye cream
8. SVR Sunblock SPF50
9. Nivea Visage Scrub
10. Neutrogena Wave
11. Face mask ( random brands here and there)

So anyway, I've been taking extreme care of my skins in year 2010 and I'm hoping to take this habit to a whole new level with vigorous body scrubbing and moisturizing in 2011.

I scrub once a week using the wave ( comes with its own formulated cotton pad) and alternate with Nivea scrub and a rubber face scrub.

I try to mask at least once every two weeks but laziness sometimes get the best of me.

All the products above are used in moderation and mix. I need a whole new post to explain this all so let's carry on!

2. Basic loving

I want to just wear a white tank top and an awesome clutch and call it an outfit, even for party looks! I'd love trying more effortless BUT glam at the same time more in 2011 lol does that make sense?

I do not want to dress like my current effortless look which actually could barely pass as a decent day look fml.

3. Get busy!

CLASHES OF BOLD COLORS BUSY PATTERNS AND THE LIKES. Did i just contradict myself? How can I have some basic loving and get busy at the same time idk.

4. Glorify my hair

As in you know, try more hairstyles! Twist it braid it accesorize! I love www.glamour.com for hair ideas.

5. Ok last one! Stop worrying about my weight so much and just be HAPPY! :D

New Year's eve is just around the corner, peeps. Yayy!!!
Are you planning to go out and party till drop with friends? Well, if you do, these three looks may be your inspiration. You don't have to be the same exact items, but you can pick anything you have closest to what are featured here.
Well as for me, this year I'm gonna spend it at home, back to the old me, so I'm not gonna bother what I'm going to wear. :D

I'm trying to be a stylist here, one of my dream jobs. Hahaha.

So here goes.
The first one might be suitable for those who love elegance. But, I added some chunky accessories in this look, if chunkiness isn't your cup of tea, then you can alter them with some more delicate accessories. Diamond bracelets, rings and earrings will do. Or pearl jewelries are not bad either. But, remember to lose necklaces. The ruffles on the dress don't need any competitors.

If you are a more adventurous person and like to be in the spotlight, this sequined top might be the perfect choice. Alexander McQueen studded skull boots and clutch will definitely make you the vein of the party. Have I exaggerated enough? :D
Then again, chunky accessories!!!! You can alter all the gold jewelries with the silver ones. And I still think it is best to lose necklaces here. You have enough loud stuff going on from your neck down, you know what I mean?

The last one here is feminine meets bold. In this case, the delicacy of the lace top meets the busy print skirt or the oh-so-pretty nude Badgley Mischka pumps meets Alexander McQueen satin skull clutch.
And do you see how pretty the clutch is!!! It's official, I'm in love with Alexander McQueen skull clutches!!! Alexander is just IT!!!!

Taiwan, baby!

First, I need to say several things:

1.The image quality sucks ball and super crappy. Something must have been in wrong settings all my pictures look grainy fuckmylife.

2. NONE , and I mean NONE of my colleagues take good outfit shot. So whenever I see fullsize length mirror, I had to camwhore.

3. The irony which is my boots : made in Taiwan, sold and bought in Medan, only to be taken to Taiwan. I know "why not buy in Taiwan then?" , well it's just a risk I couldn't take! What if I could only buy a pair like in the 3rd day of my visit?! Too risky.

4. There is a zit on top of my nose, I know. It might not be very visible in the pics that's because I concealed it, but for the life of me I'm too lazy to photoshop it.

Okay, ground rules established. Commence photos :)

First day in Taiwan was not as cold as we expected. But dressing as planned was more of a priority so I wore one quite thick sweater! Much to the awe of my friends. Sorry my priorities are whack.

I BORROWED this lovely turtleneck from Hai's aunt. It's the prettiest blue and of the best wool quality. I adore it.

Btw, I TOTALLY LOVE MY INNER TOP! the lace made all the difference. From my sis' online store lol. Carrie n Belle in Facebook!

The first and has always been is Alexa Chung. I don't have words to describe her, but she's just IT.

Second is Olivia Palermo, the new face of Mango. She is pretty and she is fabulous and she's just IT.

Third and my recent crush is Emma Watson. Since she has her hair cut into this pixie cut, I immediately fall hard for her. Perhaps if she grows her hair long again, I'm not gonna love her anymore. She's gorgeous and again, she's just IT.

And I got this detective blazer (that's what I named it)!!!!! The pattern and the color fit the name, right? right? right?

And the fuschia strappy heels!!! Welcome aboard, honey!!!! And now I only have deep green pointy shoes to wish for, and next are leopard motif flats, and oh yes...... fringed heels are not to forget either and the list goes on.

My cheeks are so damn chubby.

Lace Affair

Just created a new set. :)

I am having a deep affair with lace dresses lately. Unfortunately, white or creamy ones don't work well on me as I have extraordinarily huge bottoms. LOL. Poor me.
I have to be satisfied with black ones. Will post the pictures later.

So here I pair the dress with three different style of shoes. Well, basically they are all pumps, but with a bit different design and material. My most favorite is the black lace peep toed, followed by the orange-ish velvet round toed.
Remember to minimize the accessories and skip necklaces as they will only ruin the delicacy of the dress.

Coming home from a relative's wedding. Again, MUST camwhore!!!!

I usually pair red with blue. But then I thought, why not green once in a while? I don't have any green shoes or purse, so I opted for this jade necklace and applied green eye make-up.
Green shoes are on their way, well not really, but yes, I can make them coming my way. :D

Going out on another regular weekend dinner nite out.
This blouse, ladies and gents, is not new. I bought it from one online shop selling vintage clothing.
It cost 50,000 IDR or 60,000 IDR I don't remember. A bargain!!!!
I know there are pros and cons about buying 2nd hand apparel, but as long as you have the clothes properly washed, there shouldn't be problems. They have flee markets overseas and people buy and hunt antique stuff there. So why can't we?
Anyway, this satin blouse is still in perfect condition. No one will know it isn't new if I didn't tell. And the plus point : the pattern. Perfecto.

At the restaurant we visit almost every weekend, Dome. I don't know what is special about it. In fact, nothing is. I just like the chicken fettucini and the potato skin, never grow bored of them. I am very conventional when it comes to eating, meaning I don't like trying new stuff.

I don't really like wearing dresses with stockings, but since I live in Medan (where most of the male citizens ogle at girls in mini skirts) and this dress is very short (I can't risk showing off my ass to the entire population of this city), stockings are the sole answer to my problems.
The shoes are very comfortable to walk in despite the height.

She doesn't want to be left out, certainly.
The poncho shirt she's wearing is one worthy buy. Really. It flatters your figure, be it lean (like hers) or round (like mine), very well.

Starbucks-ing.
This chiffon striped blazer adds up to my blazer collection. I have always liked wearing blazers. The one that I am eye-ing on now is a leather biker blazer (faux or genuine, not a problem, preferably genuine leather though).

Everything became blur and all the colors fade desperately. Even my cute cobalt blue heels looked so shitty. LOL.
In modern era like now, a 2-mega-pixel camera is ancient. So, peeps, get yourselves a decent camera of at least 10 MP if you want to be camwhore queens.

Last but not least, I finally had my hair cut. :D

The Not So Fabulous Mid Autumn Festival

We went to this moon cake festival in Royal Sumatra a few weeks ago. It wasn't the best festival I have ever been to nor was it the worst one. The entrance was quite promising, you know, celebrating the spirit of mid autumn festival, with red decoration, red paper lantern and all. Plus, the location was in Royal Sumatra, so I thought, "Royal must be good."

Angela wore the dress I bought for her from Singapore. It looked real nice on her.
My sister wore the blouse and the cigarette pants from my online shop. Pretty......
I wore a side ribbon dotted top from Forever21 and khaki tailored pants from Zara.

In the beginning I was pretty excited about all this, but.... .I should have known that Medan is not that competent yet in organizing any fabulous events. This one was no different. In fact, it was such a bummer, imo.
The field where they held the event itself was the biggest disappointment of all, followed by the food , the minimal if not little decoration and the lack of seats and entertainment.
It was raining some hours before or the day before, I'm not sure and as a result the filed was still wet and muddy by the time the visitors arrived.
Well, one can't control the weather, can he? Yes, but at least shouldn't they consider every possible circumstance before throwing an event? So, no excuses. Period.
Girls who wore their best shoes that night must have cried blood. Mud and dirt and just more mud everywhere. And thank God I didn't wear my new heels that night. I almost did.

Our shoes got a free mud spa treatment. Yay......
(Angel even didn't mind tucking in her blouse any longer. Hahaha)
Oh one more thing, it was freaking hot that night.
Heat and mud should make a sexy combination, yet we four weren't even an inch close to "sexy" at all.

I didn't have enough to eat that night. The food was served in a very very shy portion. Teeny weenie little bits of this and that. I had to chomp down on the candy floss - something I never like in my whole life - because I was so freaking hungry. An hour or so later,we fled to a real place to eat. Didn't even bother to wait for the firework show to begin. I wasn't even curious what it would be like. Nothing spectacular, I can imagine.

Useful tips :
-Before deciding to attend an event, festival, or whatever show, find out who or what the event organizer is. This is THE most important thing you should check.
-Get ample information about the location where the event will be held. Is it in an open field? Is it in a room? And the most important of all, JENG JENG JENG.............. Is it in a muddy wet grassy rodeo field?

The Land of Carefree

I have always loved Singapore for some reasons. In fact, I guess every sane person will love Singapore. Apart from the high tax its citizens are subjected to pay, I can't think of any reasons NOT to love it. Yes, we're here in Indonesia should be thankful that a large portion of our citizens can still avoid paying tax and easily walk out of the said obligation without any difficulties.
Should we be thankful or shameful? Well, it is a long endless discussion and I am not here to talk about it.

Now, back to my Singapore big crush. First, I think everyone will agree that Singapore is a safe place to travel. No worries on muggers, robbers or thieves. You leave your shopping bags in this store, you go back half an hour later to find them, there they are..... still there, perfectly safe, remain untouched. Well, at least from my experience, the shopkeepers kept them for me. :D
(What kind of stupid head forgot their shopping bags? Me).

And I love love love the Old Chang Kee in Orchard Road, but I couldn't find the stall when I was there last September. They must be still in business, no? I miss Old Chang Kee dearly...... T_T

I love the shopping malls.

I love the magazine stalls and the book stores.

I love the wide and clean roads. Although, I think Singapore isn't as clean as it was anymore. Too many tourists indeed has a downside in a country's cleanliness.

However............... I don't like the food. ( Sorry,but it is 1-0 for Medan in food department).

I think I don't need to gush more about Singapore cause I'm sure everyone knows what I mean already. :D

I was wearing a white shirt and a pair of navy short, with a cute black bow pin. I was pulling a nerdy look that day san the signature nerdy glasses because my face is like a fucking wide wooden tray when I'm wearing one. My boyfriend said that I looked like a casino employee, all I needed was just a blazer then I was good to go. (roll eyes)

Yes, I like taking pictures with designer logos. They are just very artistic.

Watching the Russian theatrical rock circus "Voyage de la Vie". The ticket is mad expensive but their performance is worth the money.

I love my aviators but I think they don't fit my face shape and as a result I look like a beetle.

And it turned out, the sun was shining ultra brightly and without mercy and I felt so stupid. Hahaha. But nothing could stop me from having fun despite the heat. :D :D :D

One useful tip : never visit the studio during high peak holiday season, because you will end up getting grumpy and feeling extremely annoyed, thanks to the pouring visitors.
And since I am a very impatient person, I refused to stand in line for 45 minutes or 75 minutes just to take a stupid childish ride in Egypt ???
Helloo....... is that ride so much fun? You ppl can't find other more exciting to do that queuing up for the ride???
( although honestly I myself really really wanted to experience all the fun rides if not why would I pay so much for the entrance fee???? But I didn't get the chance to do any ride at all!!!!! T_T ).

Well, looking good is not the same as beautiful. Everyone can look good in his/her own way but not everyone can be beautiful. I think, being naturally beautiful is really a precious gift, but even if you aren't, you can always make some efforts to look good. Am I right?

Everlasting Ones

Fran told me that she read somewhere that two of the most essential items a girl should have in her wardrobe area pair of sleek cut tailored pants and a black blazer, cause these two items can never go wrong and last for seasons. Well, this sounds like very true!!!

So, this pair of tailored pants I am wearing in this picture will probably last for a couple of years?? Well, I'm not quite sure about that, cause every time I look at a piece of clothing and think," Woww, this is an investment, it is going to last for good." But the fact is, it doesn't even last for one good year in my case, let alone for good. LOL

I mean, we just have to face it that we girls grow bored very very easily. That explains why there are 20something pairs of shoes in our shoe racks and why there just never seems to be enough space in the wardrobe for all the jeans and shirts and tops and dresses no matter how many we have donated or given away. Well, of course NOT all girls are sinner like some girls, trust me I know some fraction of girls who seem to be untouched with all this madness. They truly win my respect.

So, again, I have a pair of good tailored pants now and I have two or three black blazers. Let me cross my fingers and pray I don't ask for more. LOL

P.S : I am so much in affair with androgyny style, btw. I am now looking for a pair of black and white oxford shoes, with some simple details and some fringes perhaps. I don't know, I just have this image in my mind, I will know the one when I see one.

Now, let's talk maxi.
I remember a couple of years ago, maxi dresses were huge, be it printed, ethnic, floral. Now, it is not as huge although once or twice we can still see models in runways strut around in designers'. So, I ransacked my wardrobe to bring my maxi dresses back to life. Well, some are still in perfect condition and wearable, although there are also some which just figuratively scream "UGHHH".
And I realized one thing, I have loads of printed dresses but I rarely have plain one-color dress. And that is why I bought this one, plain navy maxi or to be exact, calf-length dress.
This one is definitely gonna last for years!!!! Cause it's plain!!! Do you see what I see? An investment, not an "UGHH".
LOL

The pink and black lace kitten heel shoes are from Fran. But honestly, among all type of heels, kitten heels are my least favorite, cause I seem to always lose my balance while walking in them, due to the weigh of my you-know-what. How can a "kitten" support me? LOL
Nevertheless, it's a sweet gift. I got it from our gift exchange last Chinese New Year. Ppl always remark "Hey, cute shoes!!!" every time I wear it.

Oh, one last thing. My birthday cakes and celebration were awesome!!!!

The one with ME as the icing, the one which is my most favorite avocado cake and the one which is a pizza cake. :D :D :D

And look at my face on the one with pizza cake. I got punked on my birthday with all the hand paintings from wannabe if not failed artists. It was a good one though, can't pretend I don't like it. LOL.

Shorts Affair

I shouldn't be wearing shorts too often, considering my bottoms are not particularly flattering and in fact are very much violating the law of perfection. However, I don't believe in perfection and I think it is overrated.
Every time I try on long pants (which supposedly should be more friendly for my body shape), I always end up opting for shorts, again and again. I hardly wear long pants in that I think they draw more attention to my thighs and not to mention the fact that I look kinda short and plump(er) in them.

This cocoa flared loose shorts have an excellent cutting. I always have difficulty in finding the good cutting for the unusual bottom of mine, but this one came just right. I have been wearing it too often in fact. Gotta find another replacement to avoid boredom.

Now, in the quest of the right shorts, faith brought me to another pair, with equal if not better cutting. And the plus point is : it is FLORAL.
"OMG. I have to have this!!!" whispered the little evil miss shopper.

I am not the one for high-waisted shorts or pants or anything related to "high waist". Like I have mentioned, the "unusual" ones keep me from them. Not flattering for me. Then one day, I ran into this high waist denim-look-alike shorts. And I bought it because it has front buttons. And I regret it afterward, as predicted, because it is clearly just a "fling". Not even close to "like" although it is not any nearer to "hate" either.

Wore it to Fran's boyfriend's birthday dinner, with loose toga lace top and a pair of bright-colored heels.
This is the best match that I can find, for my case. Tucking in the top will actually do both the top and the pants more justice, however it won't do ME any justice, so yeah, no tucking in please.

Fourth on the list is bright blue pants. Honestly, I don't know what they call this shape of hem, but the girl I purchased this from said that it is scallop hem. Don't know what it means, but yeah.................. it is scallop shorts.

I paired it with plain long tank top and a pink boyfriend blazer, and a pair of oxford shoes (currently top the list of my MOST favorites).

Okay, so she totally stole my idea about making a post about in honor of a celebration; cause I planned to make a birthday entry and then she went and made an engagement entry :D.

But anyway! It's her birthday and I wanna say Happy birthday to this awesome girlfriend of mine.

SO! I'm gonna write about 8 fun facts about Linda. Cause 8 is her birthday& favorite month and there are a lot of fun facts about her that I observed now and then.

I'll try to make this all fashion related, cause that girl lives and breathes fashion, and here goes :

1. She loves bold busy prints.

I used to stick to a no pattern safe boring colors, but Lind goes into a store and always picks the busiest ethnic cross flowers with orange black green all over. Serious.

2. She wears long exceptionally well.

While I fail miserably at height department and almost never thinks of wearing any skirt passing my knees, she always goes around being her tall self and wears long floor sweeping skirt.

3. She's not a good shopping companion.

Because she will say "yes" to everything.

It's so rare that she says no to a piece of clothing and you'd end up buying a lot cause she just is the kind of person who sees the beauty in everything wtf. Just the occasional shake her head.

" Fran, this strawbee is pretty. You have to buy it else you'll regret it"

4. She's an accessories whore.

Like, chronic.

It's been established multiple times on this blog too.

5. She has shoes-fetish.

Make that bold-edgy-killer-shoes-fetish. Please see blog too! Haha wtf so difficult finding pics, that's all I did all morning!!

6. She really can wear almost anything.

Actually I don't have to post pictures for this point cause the old posts pretty much summed up the chameleon in her lol.

7. Ohmygod coming with 8 points is really harder than I thought, but okay. Here : She can also wear almost any length of hairdo.

And just for the fun of it, I'm gonna post how long her hair used to be!!

This is actually really remarkable right? I mean, her face shape is not the kind that you want to pair with short short hair, but she did it and got away with it.

8. She is an inspiration.

At least to me she is. And this goes beyond fashion, accessories or make up etc.

She's the person that seemingly floats around life and sometimes makes bad decisions, but above all, she's very firm when it comes to her belief and principle. And I really admire her for that.

She can tell what's right from wrong while I'm more... corrupted LOL wtf.

Whenever I have a bias on some topic, I know I can count on her to get the right perspective. She's really wise and reliable like that.

Also loathable, cause I sometimes have to grudgingly agree in the end.

All her life she takes care of lazyass or demanding people and she has a heart big enough for all those people including students, customers, siblings, friends and boyfriend too! Lol.

So because it's her birthday and also because she deserves it , I wish her a lot less of worries and WAYYY much more of happiness and fun.

How's your day? :D
I can't wait for August to come. There's a mixture of anxiety and thrill mixed into one.
Remember how I always complain about hating my job, yadaaa.... yadaa.... blaa... now therefore I decided to put an end to it, for the sake of my sanity and the people around me (because I think my complaint has become sort of a regular for them and it is ANNOYING).
I stop teaching!!!! Whoaa...... ( I wish )
But I do stop teaching a large portion of my students, that meaning letting go half of my normal income. I'm anxious that I'm not gonna make it (financially) thru August or September. At the same time I'm thrilled, however, since I can now declare myself FREE from all that mental slavery. How good that feeling is!!!!

I have always loved August, for some ridiculous reasons. I don't really know why...., but I suppose the eighth month of the year symbolizes luck.
And most IMPORTANTLY, this year's August will be the first August in Fran's life when she will be strutting along with that rock on her finger!!!!!
She's officially ENGAGED, just yesterday!!!!

She, you bet, is mega thrilled and ultra "kaboom". LOL

Two In One

I have been trying to alter my look into a bit more feminine and lady like, although I don't think I can ever pull the look. My mom often observes my outfit and remarks, " You are not as feminine as you used to be. You were much prettier back then. Where's the old you? And please lose that loose tops and weird stuff you often wear."
I can only laugh out loud, literally, upon hearing that. I told her, I can be all that again, but I don't want to be.
Yes, I used to be a feminine long-haired girl (or should I say, village girl or college girl) . Wearing flowy long skirt or knee-length skirts (it was very in those days), paired with frill chiffon tops, with very very delicate heels and oh-so-cute accessories.
LOL.
Gosh!!!! Creepy!!!!! I can be that again, but it is just so not me anymore. The other day, I put on a simple dress and a simple waist belt, trying to be all girly again, and when I looked in the mirror, I burst into laugh. It was ultra creepy.
Nevertheless, I think this is a challenge for me. I want to wear all those girly stuff, without looking too cutie and girly. Yes, that's my mission for now.

So, all must start from wearing very very soft colors. So, I start with beige and nude pink. I never like pink, I don't know why. Pink is just................ too pink and ...... soft. Fran, on the other hand, is a mad lover of pink. I told her, if we were couple, I would certainly be the man and she would be the girl. LOL.

Meant to sport middle parting, but somehow my hair always find its way back to "semi-middle" parting.

Holiday = Putting On Weight Program - Part 2

Another late post from me. It is not me if I don't procrastinate.

Went to Brastagi for some fresh air. There's nothing really special there, but still it is the main holiday spot for Medanese. Almost everyone goes to Brastagi during holidays. What a life, eh?

The striped shawl is THE most comfortable shawl ever.

Won two stickers and an ugly dolphin stuffed toy after spending like more than 100,000 IDR on some stupid games. People know that the chances to win the prizes are super slim, yet they willingly dig into their pocket to try their luck on the games.
Being hopeful is a good thing, isn't it?

(This last line is certainly not true)
But when you have to teach, life is a living hell and you just have to be patient enough not to lose your head.
(This is very true, at least, in my case)

And speak of the devil, my paradise is about to end and today, routine begins. And it sucks!!!!
That's why I decided to pull myself out of the pool of laziness and write this post. Because if I have to start doing all that again, at least I start out with something I really like to do.

The fun thing about not working is you get to free yourself from the stress and pressure and all. And in return, the not so good thing about not in the state of stress and pressure is you get to put on weight in your-already-full of fat body. Is it an irony or what?

Well, days of torture have begun. Let's just hope I manage to shed these extra weight by my birthday next month.

The pink shirt is from Pink Studio, a second hand shirt. Vintage is all I need.

Vintage must go all the way, so here comes the vintage bag. Very spacious, and most importantly, very affordable.

The floral blazer is from Pink Studio, too. I was very into vintage last month and this blazer just completed my obsession.

What I like from vintage outfit, is again, the cutting. It fits well, it's got a very detailed tailoring, although the inside lining is torn, which is okay cause I can have it sewn back.

And I tried wearing lace legging for the first time. And I love it!!!!!!
Look at the texture of the lace on the skin. It creates a very artsy look, imo. :D

I wore it with a black mini skirt and a navy blazer. Didn't have the chance to take a decent full-body capture when the digicam ran out of battery. :(

The couple behind literally climbed onto each other. Hahaha.

Finally got myself a checked-skirt. :)

And a pair of a black wedge, from my online shop, thechicks' dollhouse.
It has a 10-cm cork wedge and I became an instant super tall chick wearing it. My student's mom who saw a picture of me wearing this pair and my sister wearing flat shoes said,"Wow, your sister is so short compared to you, huh?" LOL.

I am shooting an ad for a fake jewelry brand here. Looks nice, eh?? (just smirk not LOL)

Stripes is a must this season. And I hope suspender will soon be in (or has it in and out already?). Don't really care. Pulling androgyny look proves can be as fun and as challenging, too.

Another dine out nite. This cropped t-shirt is very comfy. Haven't worn my denim jacket for a while then, so it's time to make a re-run, here with tulip skirt and a pair black pumps, with extra platform on the front.

With the girls. I am a giant among them tiny creatures.
I was trying to mix pattern here, polkadots and stripes. Both the top and the cardigan and the beige oxford shoes are from my online shop.
I just can't express how much I love the shoes, because I finally got myself a pair after looking for quite some time. Most of the time, in my attempt of Oxford hunting, if it is not the quality that sucks then it is the price that doesn't suit me.
But this pair, it checks all the qualifications I demand from an Oxford.
So, again, love to the max.....!!!!

With the best one. He looks good, doesn't he?? Certainly does!!! Mucho amor.... LOL

With the girls, again. After watching "Sex and The City 2", which is a very entertaining movie. I can't say I REALLY love the movie, but it did crack me up with some of the lines, especially Samantha's remarks regarding sex and men.

So, post watching the movie, and based on our outfit that day, we split characters of the movie among us. From left to right : Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.

In reality, we agree that Angela and Angel are Charlotte, I am Miranda (as always, hahaha) and Fran is Carrie.
HAHAHAHAHA.
No one wants to be Samantha. She is the life of the series, imo. Without her, the series will be too boring with Charlotte's up-tightness, Miranda's cynicalness and Carrie's drama.

Also, this post is an official kick-off to my " STOP shopping "programme, and what other way to actually own a pair of shoes except to enter giveaways?!

I personally do not know Bethanny, except that I browse blogs religiously and I happened to chance upon her blog today, as well as the lovely giveaway.

Anyway, here's my take on De.cada.dia :

The Pink Coral shade is very very pretty.

I quite like the upper half of the dress. However, I'm not so sure about the bottom part of it. It's supposed to flatter hourglass figure, but I think I'd prefer tight looking skirt rather than the tulip/balloon style. The cut on the waist details somehow remind me of Herve-Leger dress :D

The designs are mostly simple with little details and "friendly" colors and clean cutting.

How often do you see a simple top with high-waist skirt combo but never actually pull one yourself? I'm loving this look and I think I might wear some inspired look from De.cada.dia soon!

It reminds me of Lauren Conrad Collection a lot too! A lot of blue and navy.

De.cada.dia also does sexy quite well. This is a cute oriental look. I'd prefer to see this in brighter color though, maybe pink?

So overall, I would say that De.cada.dia does simple, sexy and cute too at the same time. Some piece like the leggings and the blue see-thru dress are pretty edgy too.

Have been out and about in town doing nothing useful in particular.
Taking random pictures here and there but only few is full-length. I just realized it when I was preparing and editing pictures for the blog.

The black skirt has been a good company. I have it sewn by a tailor acquaintance and she had to charge me more since the fabric required is more than any regular size. LOL.
I have this huge problem with my overtly huge hips, and skirt hunt is never a successful trip. There are loads of cute skirts on my online shop I would love to have if not for it.
Is it a bless or a curse? Definitely a bless for my finance.

I suppose by now, you will all have been aware that left is my good angle. :D :D :D
The shirt dress here,worn with thin studded belt, surprisingly, is very comfortable despite its denim fabric.

In a public toilet in a local mall, sporting fugly make-up less face and the limpest hair ever.
Recently, I am trying to enhance my skin tone, by using this product, that product, anti aging cream, anti wrinkle cream or whatsoever cream. Hopefully it is not too late considering I am not that young anymore. LOL.
Anyway, the focus here should be the necklace, a faded gold necklace with black and blue stones. Very ethnic-like.

Accessories are things I can't ever let go, although they come second after shoes. There was a phase in my full-of-sin life when I totally stop purchasing accessories and I vowed that I would never be so uncontrollable anymore in the future.

However, that was then. Now, I am back to my full-of-sin state. I guess I just can't deny that I LOVE accessories a lot.
This pair of bangles and this necklace is totally meant to be. Not purchased at the same day, but when something is meant to be, it is indeed meant to be. Wtf is that?!! LOL
Let me tell you their love story. I bought these bangles from an ex-friend. That's all. Story of bangles told.
Now story of the necklace begins.
I meant to buy the ivory one, but it was out of stock. So the seller recommended me the red one, which I had never seen before. I thought," Red is hot."
So, necklace purchased and ..........voila...... it matches the bangles. Happily ever after!!!!
And why am I telling you this nonsense? Pardon me. Hahaha.

I Am Back

One thing that is difficult about blogging is finding a good title for each post. I constantly try to think of unusual title for each post, and most of the time, I fail. Like this post, I can't see how the title "I Am Back" is any different from all random titles. LOL
Great, now I am back!!! :D :D :D
How I miss blogging and all.

My digital camera is kind of broken. It beeps non stop when I turn it on. Or some other time, the images shot were blurry. No chances to snap here and there. Moreover, the weather recently has been unbelievably hot. Stifling hot. HOT!!! When the weather is like this, I don't feel like dressing up or playing dollhouse at all. Fussy outfit is never appropriate for weather like this.
And I end up wearing loose t-shirts, loose bottoms - as loose as possible- everywhere.

So, Christina Lim was in town. She is Fran's eldest sister. I meant so much to hang out with her, but it never happened, thanks to my overloaded schedule. Well, I want to use cursing words between 'my' and 'overloaded', but I guess it is inappropriate. And from the few chances I had to meet her is this, on an unplanned dinner at Trattoria. She is beautiful. Make-up less and very simple, her complexion is to die for, while mine is like .........(SIGH.............big time). How I
wish!!!!!

Korean girl band is just so cool.........................!!! Uber fantastic!!!!

I especially love 2NE1.

Well, I guess this song is, like Fran said, very familiar to us all with its catchy tunes, very contagious indeed that you will automatically hum along the song, but honestly, imo, it is a very plain and a very typical pop song with unison coreography and all. I guess that is what sells in the industry.

I don't say that their dance moves are easy, cause I don't think I can ever pull them, ever!!! So it is awesome if Christina Lim can do the whole steps!!!!! :D :D :D

Korean Girl Bands

Nowadays it's all about Korea Fever! The country, the demure luxurious fashion items, the boys yum!, the musics, and everything!

These 2 days I'm all about Korean girl bands! Let's check their style!

#1. Wondergirls

Their " nobody nobody but you *clapclap*" has taken the Asian world by storm, very contagious very in-your-head all the time it's cute bordering to annoying somehow lol.

I can't believe my sister memorizes the whole steps to the Nobody dance.

Anyway, they seem to put front a lot of retro classic 60's look in their "Nobody" single. Very old-school Von Teese glam! Loves!

I especially love the leader, Min Sun Ye. Her face is a classic doe-eyed beauty. Life is not fair I tell you!

#2. So Nyuh Shi Dae aka Girl's Generation

There are all 9 of them! Their theme is girly and cutesy with rainbow sprinkle on top haha.

At this point, I can't really care for their names -__-

#3. 4Minute

4Minute's style is mix and match with loud neon colors, lots of torn leggings and crazy baggies.

Somehow I think that this style works to the advantage to only two of the girls ( both in purple bottoms pictured above) as the rest of the three have very sweet girly face.

The most eye-catching personnel is again the leader Ji Hyun, in the middle here. Followed by the cool girl in shades, she has very pretty eyes! Why all the hiding?

#4. 2NE1

This group of 4 girls is the shit! Excuse the language, it's because I was hoping that their coolness rubs off on me.

Their style can only be summed up into one word : ICECOOLNESS! They rarely do cutesy looks.

Seriously though, I've heard of Sandara and Park Bom countless times on make up blogs long before I've heard their musics. Everybody is trying to copy their eye make-up look!

All four of them is significantly different but somehow share the equal inyourface awesomeness.

Sandara Park - the PRETTIEST ONE! with the most copied eye make up.
CL - the leader, 19 and perfoming like nobody's business. Ice cool max!
Park Bom - her voice kills, well among them four at least.
Minzy - so coolcute. 16 year old.

I'm even loving their make-up less look! For a make-up whore like me, that's saying a lot.

This group is decent enough as few of their songs are quite good. But I sort of lost track now of who is who.

#6. T-ARA

It's read Tee-ara, as in Tiara and not Kara. As if it's not confusing enough! lol.

They are not half bad actually. I think every entertainer in Korean pop business is drilled, trained and pushed to the max by their labels or record companies. Tough business while looking cute and cool.

#7. Brown Eyed Girl- B.E.G

They do gothic look quite often. So I guess that's their trademark.

#8. Jewelry

This group has been around since 2001 with few changes of the members.

#9. Lacatha

I don't know much about them, weird name for the group though. Anyway, their style is still worth to take a peek at.

I think Korean girl bands all agree on busy pattern leggings, loud colors, cool shades, quirky accessories and crazy heels.

And when they do simple, it's all about effortlessness. Light and breezy.

Well, I guess that's it then. I'm off to more youtube-ing. No prize for guessing what I'm gonna ogle for the rest of working hour .

Here comes weekend again......, my most favorite time of the week.
(Well, I know today is Monday, I meant the day the pics were taken).
Anw......Yippeee.......( to celebrate the mood).

I have this love and hate relationship with my job. I've gotta admit that I am kinda overwhelmed with everything that I am doing at the moment, with my job especially. I have long lost interest in teaching, in kids and students. It is like there's nothing I haven't seen before when it comes to kids and students and all their annoying habits, laziness, absent-mindedness etc etc. I can hardly find kids (even the cutest one to others) cute any longer. To me, they are troubles. Another not-so-favorited bonus is when the parents are not cooperative and understanding enough.

However, there is a little portion of the students whom I really love teaching. These types of students are the reason why I chose teaching in the first place. Students with eagerness to learn and expand their knowledge are a rare case nowadays. You don't need a super bright brain, you know. All you need is the will to learn and to listen.

Well...well...well... enough of the prolog. Now let's talk cuteness.
I am not over prints yet. And I am certainly not over necklaces, or blue, yet.
Considering that I already have several printed tops in my wardrobe, I actually gave myself a week to think before I bought it.
I am so crazy over prints at the moment so at that time I was worried that this top was just the manifestation of my temporary madness and obsession to them.
Well, apparently it wasn't, cause after a week of thinking, it still won my heart. :)
And the necklace is so damn heavy my neck almost fell off my head, not literally.
It was first out of stock then some week later, the seller contacted me and informed me that she had it re-stocked. So, you know what that means. We're meant to be together. Come to me baby..... :)

7th Anniversary- A Far-Fetched Story.

A couple of weeks ago was our 7th anniversary. It is a long way to go, huh?
Every year it always feels like it's just last year we started seeing each other. Perhaps this is because big portion of the seven years was in the form of a long-distance relationship. And this year is actually the third year of the seven years that we are together in the same city. It is a long way to go. I didn't realize that we are that 'old' already.
My mom said,"If you were married then, you'd be a happy mother of one or two kids now."
Oh, plee...asee....!! That saying is so ancient. I dread marriage, for whatever reasons. Period.

Anw, we went out for dinner. Here we are :

Never gonna miss a chance to pose, of course.

I thought I can never suit a front-frilled dress with extra tier on the hem line, but this one suits me alright. I have to wear an outer though, cause my arms are way too fat to be exposed. Well, when I say "fat", I mean "fat" literally. I always mean what I say.
I forgot to zoom in on my black pumps. They are from my online shop, the best pumps so far, I think. A good black patent 5-inch platform. Will take a close-up picture later on.

You might notice that my latest obsession is necklace. I can't seem to get enough of necklaces. And the one I was wearing that night is by far the best chunky-but-light necklace ever. The other chunky necklaces I have are mostly very heavy and they kinda limit my movement, if you know what I mean.

Well, I guess that's all for now. Got a lot of stuff to do and I am actually skipping giving a tuition now just to write this post. :)

Let me introduce you to Minty :

My boyfriend said, "The color is a bit strange."
Hahaha.
Well, I know that my color preference is a bit weird and I'm constantly attracted to unusual colors, bright ones especially. This pair of shoes is, again, from my online shop, and they come in black and beige, but I particularly love the mint ones.
I don't have any favorite color, fyi. I love colors and the more unusual they are, the more attracted I will be to them. It might be tough to find what other hues to pair this mint green with. Nevertheless, life is supposed to be colorful, isn't it? And so is your wardrobe, imo. :D

Here are options which I think might suit to pair with this shade of green :

# Deep purple mini dress
It might be a bold choice to pair mint green with purple, and some might think," Hey... a walking lollipop", but given the right occasion and - of course - attitude, the combo purple - mint green is not a bad choice. Deep purple knee-length mini dress, mint green footwear (leave the stockings or leggings, though),with accessories. Cute!!!!
Remember to keep everything simple!!! Don't overdo.

# White loose top with black or gray stone-washed skinny jeans.
With the right attitude, needless to say this is going to be so effortlessly cool. You know it is hard to pull effortless look, cause people will either come out "trying too hard" or "lacking the X factor". Since this look is quite simple, remember to accessorize. Chunky pieces with unique designs are recommended.

# Floral dress with denim jacket.
I am thinking of darker hues like black or deep blue, with a splash of indy pink or nude colors. And since the pattern has dominated the whole look, just pick the simplest accessories.

# Navy top with beige bottoms (shorts or skirts).
With beige alone, the whole look will appear washed-out. When paired with navy tops, attention will be drawn to the combo of navy and mint green and beige simply acts as a cute accent while balancing the whole look.

Playing Polyvore is such a fun. Been a while since I last logged in to the website.
I wore the shoes with this latex cropped jacket and floral dress. The dress is mint tone with dark red flowers. You can guess where this dress is from and I guess you all are already so sick of me saying "my online shop bla bla yadda yadda'. Pardon me.

More Denim

Apparently it is denim fever I am having at the moment, besides prints and vintage looks.

This denim look-alike round necked loose top I am wearing here is just as comfy as it looks. Seriously.

On a movie night, Angelic snatched my new denim bolero. I am speechless.

And below is me playing faces again. The top I was wearing is aother denim look-alike t-shirt. Actually it is made of cotton with a small pocket on the chest, imitating the famous Kain t-shirt design. I didn't have the chance to take a full length picture of it.

The multi colored beads necklace is to make up for the overall casual look.

And another look I am trying to achieve at the moment is the vintage look. It isn't easy to come out total vintage-like and effortless. A key to the ultimate vintage is wearing the real vintage, not the faux vintage. So I decided to aim for flea markets that sell old pretty stuff.

And I have been browsing a lot lately to look for online shops that sell second hand stuff, and up to this moment, only few satisfy me. Maybe it is not a habit for us Medanese to wear second hand stuff, due to some health-related reasons, which I can perfectly understand, for I am a psycho when it comes to public accommodation or universal stuff. My worst fear are door handles, door knobs, water taps and cinema seats where thousands of millions of bacterias are dancing on those stuff!!!!! Yucks!!!!!! (Shudder....)

Okay back to the vintage topic now. So I went to a boutique and flipped over their second hand rack and I found this amazing dress at a very amazingly low price, 65,000 IDR. I was doubtful for a moment before I finally bought it. When I wore it, my mum said, " Hey this is a 70's dress."
HAHAHA. Awesome!!!!

They are blurry because I think my camera has reached its expiration date. It happens not once but several times already. On the other hand, I think it kinda gives more vintage feel to the dress. Hahaha.

What I love from this dress is certainly the color, the print and the sewing. It is very very neat and very very detailed. Why don't modern tailors sew like this anymore? Modern outfits are all lacking in detail and neatness imo.

Life has been so hectic that I barely have my "me" time. Too many obligations to accomplish, too many people to please, too many "too many......" to mention.
One thing for sure is, I'm done being nice and kind. You just can't please everyone in your life, can you? Let the evil out. Unleash them!!!!

A.......nyway, we grow up, we grow old, we perish, we die. End of story. Just as simple as one, two, three. So aim for the best.
Do I sound depressed? I guess I kinda am. Too long a story to tell, too meaningless a question to ask.

Now back to blogging about the real thing. Here are some average -if not ordinary- pics I had during the few hang-outs I had these past few months.

They said wearing opaque stockings with black heels make your legs look longer and slimmer. Well, I guess not. When a thing is already big, it will stay BIG, no matter how you conceal it. Mine are the legs of a "kalkun", cause I have exceeded the stage of "ayam".

Then, my sister's birthday dinner. Just the three of us : LZ, Angelic and my boyfriend.

This year's birthdays won't be the same like last year's where there were so many of us playing dress up, taking colorful pictures and all that moments of laughter. Giving it a thought, I admit it is really really heart-wrenching, but I realize that at some stages of life, you just have to keep moving and never look back.

Angelic said, "You wear a weird shoes with weird color and weird material."
I replied," It is only a matter of time before you jump in my pool of weirdness."

On another occasion, I wore this dotted stocking with sequined flats.

Denim Moments

Do you happen to know that the word "denim" was actually derived from a name of town in France, de Nimes,which was the place where this fabric was first made and worn? It was later shortened into "denim".
It's kinda funy, I think.

So,I'm almost sure that everyone owns at least one pair of denim pants and nothing is more comfy than wearing a pair of good jeans. Well, I think in the history of denim, we all owe big thanks to Levi Strauss, the pioneer in blue jeans industries.

I rarely wear jeans on weekends because I already have my jeans moments during the weekdays. However, since these pairs of jeans are still new, I guess they should be given the honor.
I love weekends a lot, and everything that I wear on weekends are stuff that I consider special. My weekdays perfumes and weekend ones are different, too. I don't know what kind of mindset that is, but I just love............ weekends and holidays.

Please excuse the lame editing. I am so sleepy at the moment.

So, talking about Levi Strauss, the dark blue jeans I was wearing is from Levi's ladies. It is affordable, and it is really really comfortable. It costs less than 400,000 IDR. I know it is not very cheap, but for a pair of jeans this comfortable, it's worth the money.
A good pair of jeans will last for as long as you want them to last. Plus, it is a good investment, on something that can last like some 10 years or more. This saying is often heard but rarely done. So, start now, ppl!!! Invest!!!!!
Talking about good jeans, Levi's is like a household brand. It is affordable, sturdy, comfy and never goes out of date, especially if you opt for Levi's 501. This particular type has a unique story behind it, but I am too lazy to describe.
You know what you should do? Google it. Get back to me with the answer and I will give you a second hand Levi's pants.
You are not such a fool to believe me, are you?
But the unique story part is true, anw. Search for it!!!! Function your fingers!!!!

The other brand I usually wear is MNG jeans. The price ranges from average to expensive. Personally, I love this brand. However, some girls think that the design and the color are a bit turn-off. Well, as for me, I am particularly interested in their design and cutting. Nothing fits my huge hippo bottoms as good as MNG jeans. The only downside is its sizing, which is a bit inaccurate because it is different for every design. I guess, somehow they forgot to set a standard sizing to all their manufacturers.

Take this shredded light blue jeans, for example. My sister picked the usual size and when we tried it on, we were aware that it was a bit loose. But since it was the last piece and moreover, she was madly in love with shredded jeans, she decided to just go on with it. True enough, it is really really lose on her. Well on me, it is quite loose and although I have to wear a belt to keep them in place, I don't mind. It's better for an outfit being too loose than too tight. Well, I don't think my sister will ever wear it for the third time. The jeans will soon be mine. Yay.....

The shredded front part is my favorite part. And look at my snake skin purple flat. Cute, no?

There are still lots of good brands out there. Really really expensive jeans and by expensive, I mean literally, expensive.
My advice is find a brand whose cutting suits your body the best and stick to it your whole life. Jeans has become a necessity in one's wardrobe. You can never go wrong with a pair of jeans. True?

Print Is All Around

As I've told, I am having a big crush with blue, especially bright and shocking blue, electric blue. So here is another blue to add to the community.
The sleeves is a bit puffy, and it's a bit loose when worn. Its gold buttons perfect the combo.

Perhaps it is not very obvious here, but the wrist is asymmetric. Unique.

Paired with futuristic black and gold necklace and similar earrings. Hahaha.
If you notice, perhaps you will know that this necklace is similar to the design of House of Harlow accessories, Nicole Richie's accessories line. Her design is edgy with simple cut and colors.
But this is no Harlow, just a similar design :)

The heels I was wearing are pretty to look but they are not comfortable at all!! The back zipper has a very sharp point and all night it kept pricking on my ankle. Well, beauty is pain, ain't it so?

So, I think I had tortured myself enough that night, so when I went on to the movie with my boyfriend I changed into these more comfortable towering patent mary-jane pumps.

Ha!!!! You would be surprise that I had a plan B for the shoes, wouldn't you?
I always have plan B when it comes to dressing up. Be it another pair of shoes, another outfit, another accessories. Because you don't know what could happen. And I think most girls do.
My dress was torn once, and luckily I had my plan B.
My blazer was too tight once, and again luckily I had my plan B.

Mary jane saved the night (well... saved my feet, I should say).
Here we were in the cinema, watching Wolfman, which was a horrible movie, imo. What had crossed Benicio del Torro's and Anthony Hopkins' minds that those two supposedly great actors agreed to take the roles, I honestly have no idea.

Having slept half way through the movie, I had this sleepy look on my face when I got home.
Still, it didn't keep me from posing before getting into the house. My boyfriend shook his head and said, " Why girls love taking pictures?".
I absolutely have not the slightest idea, baby.
We are girls. What do you expect?

Spice Up Your Life (with colors)

Well, here I am again, after half a month and so, I finally manage to sneak a bit time to update the blog. Sneak a bit time, is that the right phrase? Well, I'll think about that later, I am sneaking up now..... gotta hurry....

These pictures are from fiirst day of Chinese New Year. I love love February so so so much. I wish it didn't end so fast. Lots of holidays, lots of eating, lots of resting, lots of free time.

It has this harem pants feel but not that loose and baggy. It is straight cut and has a side zipper, which, I think, is perfect to conceal big tummy. In this case, my big tummy.

Here And There (Eps 2)

Nothing special, but it's fun. I wish I took graphic design back in university.

Then a week prior CNY, we went shopping. Nothing big, nothing fancy, in fact the time wasn't enough. Today is the fourth day of the tiger year, I should have written this post long before today. What a lazy bum I am.

Fran, crazy as always.

I had my hair cut, btw. In case you didn't notice. I'm back to my cuteness now. Hahaha.
I used to think that hair is nothing to a person's overall appearance. However now, I think the opposite. Now after I had my hair trimmed, I can just slip on any t-shirts and I feel fine. And what is not less important is picking the right hair-stylist and the right hair style.
I had a horrible experience with this and believe me, once you made the wrong decision with your hair, you have nothing to do but to wait till it grows back. And in the story of hair, trust me, there's nothing worse than those days and months of waiting.

It's a bit short, but it will grow well. I'm sure of that. :)

Oh, and Happy Tiger Year. May we all are showered with prosperity and longevity.

My First Ever Glittery Top

I'm thinking about how else I can wear this glitter top, without looking too much. Hm......
The idea will pop up my mind anyway. It always does.
So, here below, the glitter top looked kinda formal. Well, I was going to a friend's wedding, so the purpose was to look formal.
I tried the top on, I put the skirt on, I stood in front of the mirror. Not bad. Then I accessorized with sequined necklace and bracelet, I grabbed my clutch "of the month", the red snake skin one. Then I stood for a while in front of my shoe rack, weighing between red patent wedges or black patent pumps (meanwhile thinking how perfect it would be if i had a pair of sequined shoes) before finally decided on the wedges and stormed out of the house.

I do realize that people don't wear two pieces to formal parties. So, I was thinking, have I committed a fashion crime?
Well..... well.......you decide, but you'd better say "no"!!!
I had nothing formal or elegant enough for the reception that night, I lacked the preparation like I always do, so that's why I decided to come out like this. Besides, it looked okay, I think. If I aim to dress all out, I can do a million times better that the others .
(Oh, you should trust me ppl, I am good in that department. Not bragging, but hell yeah, I am just that good!!!)
Hahaha, I'm kidding.
So, what can you call this look? Well, I name it "semi formal gothic chic".

How About Some Latex ?

This latex snake skin pattern top is smokin' hot. Honestly, I was quite doubtful with wearing snake skin pattern at first, especially when the material is latex and the color is beige. It came in three colors: black, dark grey and beige. I was thinking of getting the black one, but it was selling so fast and all that was left was this beige. And the seller actually said this," Kalo mau eksis ya pilih warna beige",when I asked her which color was the best one. She insisted it was the best and recommended me to take it.
Well, I don't want to "eksis" and I am certainly not ready to be a "reptile" girl. So I decided to pass. Then, surprisingly, she sent me this top as a free gift, a complimentary for me as I'd shopped quite a lot from her.
I was thrilled the moment I saw it!!!! You know how happy you will feel, when you get what you really like. And I think it is very thoughtful of her to send me the top as the free gift. I was delightful.

And I guess she was right at some point. It is pretty. It is latex, but it doesn't give the "too much" look. It is quite comfortable to wear, in fact.
The shoulders were supposed to be pointy, but here they were kinda limp. I have bought some shoulder pads and I'm gonna ask some tailor to sew them on both sides.

I wore it with a pair of white shorts, a pair of deep brown oxford ankle boots and my mom's bag. It is an old bag, I don't know if you can call it vintage. Let's just call it oldies.
Anyway, talking about vintage, I am hunting a vintage purse, but to no avail until this minute. What I want is an affordable and classy vintage bag. Nothing costs more than 200,000 IDR. Hope I can find one soon.
The necklace I was wearing was a bargain, only 40,000 IDR. Bought it at a boutique named "Diz Dress" in a local mall.

Angel was wearing a leopard motif blazer with cute necklace, from The Chicks' Dollhouse. Angel here proves herself very very useful when I need someone to take my pictures. She knows some good angles and lighting, you know. Got some quick tutorial from her photographer boyfriend, I guess. Well her boyfriend is not exactly a photographer, but he takes good pictures and he knows photography. Contact me if you need a photographer or a graphic designer service. :D :D :D.
I am serious, btw.

Then, my boyfriend here, also proves himself very useful in the task of taking pictures. He is indeed reliable. Thanks, honey. :)
