In The Name of Flowers

They say that you are what you eat and you are what you wear. This is heard like a hundred or thousand times before, but do you ever really sit and think how true the saying is?
I am very picky when it comes to things that I chew and swallow. I can't help it cause it is just a part of me. I used to think that I was an easy going person, with no expectation or whatsoever. However, recently I have learnt that I was not that easy going after all. And I also do agree that these changes within myself now is simply the proof that I am growing, in a good way, I hope. Apparently, one thing I know that was a part of me and is still a part of me and I desperately hope it will no longer be a part of me in the future is my hoarding habit. Oh yes, that is so true. I hoard. I procrastinate. I lack the discipline.

Take this blog for example. I don't blog regularly and I wait till there are three or four ideas swirling inside my head before I finally sit and type. Not that blogging is a necessity in life, but I do believe that once you've decided to do something, you owe it to yourself to stay committed to it. There are 2 more posts to come after this one. From last weekend.

So I am thinking, perhaps it is my habit of being so picky results in me as a hoarder. Do you see any correlation?
I don't. What was I trying to say?
.
.
.
.
Well, whatever.

Now, let's talk fashion.
I have long stopped questioning what trend is all about. I believe, and although it is my self-defined definition, that there is no such thing as trend.
Who creates trend? Who decides that this season floral takes over the crown from studs or bold shoulders or latex or leopard? One thing to remember is that it is essential to build your own style and explore it, regardless what is vogue at the moment.
When I was tidying my wardrobe, I came across an ivory hobo purse which I purchased like 5 years ago and guess what? It's a studded bag. Lame gold studs. I remember that I treasured the purse so much!! Then there's this floral dress I bought like 3 years or so ago on a sale, green tone with little red flowers. I remember regretting having purchased such dress. It's mostly because I had to be so extraordinarily thin in order to be able to put it on. It was life tormenting you know, not able to eat and have to limit your food intake!!!!
Moreover, when I took it home, I didn't really get a comforting remark from my sister, who said that the dress looked old and other mean stuff like that. :(
I was a bit disappointed, but I knew I loved the dress. I still do. And I still wear it to this day.
Well, that was then. Now, it is the other way around, and I never agree with the "old" remark. It should be addressed as "vintage". :)
I'm pretty sure that it is only a matter of time before she wears that dress. Floral is sort of in, I suppose. It's everywhere the eyes can see.

So now, my point is, pick the stuff that you like, that reflects your personality. Not because they're in or out of the season, but because it is you. Now, studs are in (or out already?), floral is very likely on its way to be the next big thing. I kinda feel relieved that I didn't dispose or give them away to my cousins. And especially floral, I can't seem to get enough of it. I always love brightness and pattern anyway and am constantly attracted to pattern and colors.

Enough crap, here are pictures from last two weekends ( hoarder..............)
Can't believe it actually takes me like two weeks before I finally get to the bottom of it.
Was wearing a floral mini dress with studded suede vest, with camel sling bag and a pair of shoes of almost similar tone.

Squatting outside a remote-control store.
Look at my lack-of-balance face. Hahaha.

Photobucket

Desperately long and uncontrollable hair.
The ring is a bargain, though. IDR 45,000. Sogo.

Photobucket

:D :D :D

Photobucket

Despite the tightness, these pair of shoes do look good in pictures and in reality.
Beauty is pain, that is true, although after some time, they are not that tight anymore. And again, I am relieved I didn't re-sell them. I thought they were too small for me and I didn't really feel excited having purchased them, until now. Anw, my shoes are perfect, I think. Hahaha

Photobucket

The photo quality is so bad, that it looked like it was taken in the 80's

Photobucket

I love this one.
I didn't deliberately close my eyes and look down. It just happened and it was captured and boy..... don't I look fine? As if my cheekbones were perfect. As if.....

Florals

It seems like all the dressing up I do is for going in and out of weddings.
I don't mind the dressing up part, but weddings.. oh weddings.

Photobucket

I think if I had collected all the wedding invitations all my life, I would have gotten me enough material to build a kennel. A quite sturdy one at that.

Photobucket

Thank you for the dress, Love <3

Falsies were quite obedient, for once!

photos are taken with bb, they are quite blur but I really can't be bothered with camera lately! -_-"

Hop...Hop....Let's Roll

I haven't had the chance to post these pictures yet, until now. They were from one wedding to another movie night to another window shopping afternoon. Simply put, random.

Photobucket

At a friend's wedding party
Didn't get a chance to take Devia's picture. She wore a full sequined dress with a cropped blazer. It was outstanding. She rushed to another party before I had a chance to capture the look.

Angel was wearing a maroon padded dress and Fran was wearing a cute dark blue mini dress with see-through accent on the upper part.
I don't invest in formal dresses. In fact, I hardly ever buy formal dresses.
So yeah, I know, boring..... Black dress, again??
Now, Fran, on the other hand, always manages to pick up various look on wedding parties - different dresses, different make-up, different hair style.
And my sister, Angel, she always.... always.... prepares things to the minute detail when it comes to attending events. New dress hunting, hair styling, and she will get ready like some hours before, like 2 or 3 hours prior the events.
I am constantly amazed by their effort.
Kudos to the girls!!!
As for me? I am the lazy bum. It is very often that I'm not aware that I have nothing fancy to wear, until the last minute. It is then that I'll start to panic (but I pretend to stay calm). And I know what's gonna happen next : ransacking my sister's wardrobe.
And I also know what I'm gonna pick : black dress, with that black over-sized MNG clutch. Now, that clutch is really a worthy investment, people!!! It's been to wedding parties, birthday parties, clubs, malls, movies, bottom line is : everywhere.

Photobucket

So, the only way to make my look less boring, is to accessorize. One important thing to note is, accessories have a longer life span than dresses. They are good investments.

Photobucket

This square black diamante embellished ring, purchased around eight years or so ago, and is still wearable today.

Photobucket

This heavily embellished necklace, bought two months ago.
Life span prediction : timeless.
:P :P :P
(the necklace is available to purchase at The Chicks' Dollhouse)

Photobucket

Movie night.
Went to watch Sherlock Holmes with my boyfriend and my sister. What I love from the movie is Sherlock's white shirt that he worn in one of the scenes, which is like the most perfect white shirt ever. And I decided I have to find myself a decent and fine white shirt, with nice cutting, preferably slim fit cutting, with long sleeves and most importantly, with comfortable material.
I am still searching for one (fingers crossed).

Photobucket

Lovely camel sling bag, MNG, purchased at a very reasonable price. It was on sale. Couldn't think of a reason why I shouldn't buy it. Hahaha.
And the bracelet. Edgy. And is also available to purchase from The Chicks' Dollhouse.

Photobucket

E.D.G.Y
Just say yes, even though you guys might think it isn't, will ya? I insist, period.
:D :D :D

Photobucket

Tried this leopard motif dress on. Was tempted to take it home, but my sister stopped me with just one sharp comment.
"Do you want to look like an auntie with 3 kids?"
Well............that...........uhmmm.............okay.
.
.
.
.
(speechless)
Well, I do hope she meant a hot auntie. Hahaha
This dress is exceptional. No,wrong. Motif dress is exceptional and not everyone can pull it right. I think I could have pulled it quite right, if I had the body, and the attitude.
So, my verdict on motif dresses, leopard in particular, is : Shun it!!! Burn it!!!
(But it was so...... pretty.......!!!!!! Sighhhhh..........)

Photobucket

Okay, now this dress is almost the same as Devia's dress, the one that I mentioned just now.
I know that I am not gonna buy this dress. I tried in on simply out of curiosity, to see how sequined dress would look on me.
The verdict is : not bad, but a wee bit short. With these fat thighs of mine, there's no way I am ever gonna wear this dress. But honestly, I really love love this dress.
You know there's a scene in Gossip Girl TV series, where Serena wore a sequined dress or something like this. This is so IT.
This dress has the "Serena" feel, so obviously.
And do note it. The "dress" alone. Not "me in the dress".
Sometimes, there are dresses that you can buy and wear and look pretty and cute in them. And other times, there are pretty dresses that you just can't buy, even though you do look cute and pretty in them.
( I am not saying I looked pretty in that dress, okay? This is only an illustration of a life fact. Again, note that!!!
Nevertheless, if you think I looked divine, then it would be awesome!! Hahaha )
The reason is I think you don't want to spend a sum of money on something you can only wear once, to a function you will probably go only once in your life.
Okay, say that there will be more similar events in your life, but you certainly don't want to show up sporting the same look, do you?
.
.
.
.
But still, I want the dress!!!!!

That's all for now.
Adios, people.

Denim Blazer On The Move

Got this denim blazer at an amazing online shop, Just Wanderlust Full (you can search her in facebook). It's affordable and I think it drives me back to the era of Debbie Gibson and the 80's or the early 90's. The cutting is lose, which I particularly like. The only downside is the color. A pale denim or maybe a dark denim will do the blazer the justice.

My hair and my face were like hell at that time, so, I decided to have them cropped too.

Photobucket

I am having a serious problem with my growing hair. I don't want to sport short hair anymore, but I am also not sure whether longer hair suits me or not. My hair is brutally thin, straight and limp. And it's just hideous when it is growing longer, reaching my back.

Well, does this mean I am entitled to a visit to the hairdresser's?
Hahaha.
Adios everyone!!!
Sleep tight.....

Finally .....

I just can't get enough of exaggerated shoulders !!!! They are my fashion crush at the moment. And I finally got a chance to wear this flowery top. Well, actually I don't quite understand what I mean by "got a chance". I do go out every weekend. I guess I should say, " I'm finally taking this baby out on her debut."
I have this weird tendency, that is, if I love an outfit so much, I don't want to wear it too often. The main reason is because I'm worried that the outfit, when worn too often, will lose its appeal to me, or worse yet the color will fade and I will resent it and I will have to send it away and it somehow just breaks my heart. Nothing lasts forever, I know. Even love doesn't last forever, let alone outfit. Sometimes, I can't understand why I am such a weirdo.

The top has a visible zipper at the back side. I requested for it actually. This is the best part of having your outfit custom made. You get to play designer and stuff. :P

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The two other photos were purposely cropped on the face side, because my sister complained that she looked like a dumb duck in the picture and she didn't want to have her picture posted. So I initiated to crop the 'duck' part and so to be fair, I cropped mine too.
Too bad, coz I actually looked kinda adorable in the photo. What a waste. Hahaha.

Photobucket

We went to pick up a new book rack for my ever growing books and magazines. And I need to get a new shoe rack, too (duhh...., like is there anything NOT new that I need to get?)
I know I have exceeded the greed limit. Should I be feeling guilty?
.
.
.
.
Can't seem to function my brain to think properly now.

Photobucket

At Starbucks afterward. I really like the brick wall with photo frames hanging on it, so since the coffee shop wasn't too crowded, I quickly grabbed the chance to capture the wall, with me standing next to it, of course. :)

Photobucket

The 'duck' sister.

Photobucket

My new studded bracelet. Love it!!!
Adios people. More short posts to come.

Breezy Sabang

Hello everyone, welcoming 2010, here I present..... the first post in the said year. :)

So we went to Sabang, a small island, part of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province and spent our New Year's countdown there (although we didn't actually do the countdown thing).
I am not so good with using descriptive adjectives and these are all I can think of Sabang : breath-taking, magnificent, splendid, splendid (yes, I use the word twice) and absolutely picturesque. But then, another thought hits me and right now I am wondering, perhaps it is me who hasn't seen much of the world, so once I set my feet on this beautiful island, I was absolutely awed by its beauty. Nonetheless, it is worth visiting.
You should go, people. But..... on the second thought, don't go!!!! Cause if Sabang becomes a popular holiday destination, it is only a matter of time before it turns into another Pantai Cermin, with its cappucino sea and polluted air. Not to mention that everything will be so pricey, starting from the cottage fare to the meal. I will lose my little paradise on earth. Don't go. Let it remain unknown.

Dark clouds blocked the sunset. Fail attempt #1

Photobucket

Again, dark clouds ruined the supposedly breath-taking sunset. Fail attempt#2

It was a four-day-three-night trip, so I traveled light and only packed what I really needed there. Everything was stuffed into a red hideous handbag.

Photobucket

Waiting for the boarding call and camwhoring as if we had waited for hours.

Arriving at NAD airport, Sultan Iskandar Muda. Acting cute and excited.
Now, what the hell did that man do there?

Pose wherever and whenever possible.

Later that night, we had dinner at a downtown small restaurant. I was wearing a pair of black shorts, and one thing to note is, if you don't want to draw too much attention and evoke unusual stares from the locals, do dress modestly. I got the "hey, sexy.." remark while walking along the street. Wtf. I didn't dress to the nines. I didn't show too much skin either. I was as modest as I could be, the only explanation is maybe they are just not used to seeing women in short pants.
Sabang is part of NAD, which has a regulation that bans revealing outfit for the women. So, who's to blame? In this case, the regulation certainly.
It's not my fault I'm hot in shorts. :P

So, moving on to the second day. We went a place called Km 0, the very West of Indonesia. We went to two beaches. And we went snorkeling!!! Well, actually, Fran and her boyfriend and my sister went snorkeling. While me, I was completely motionless in the water. Just laying there in the shallowest part of the sea like a stupid useless fat log and suffering from a severe headache afterward. What an old chick!!!!

It was New Year's Eve!!!! And being in a small and remote town, you don't expect to see much. Well ...... guess what!!! They had firework show!!! And again, I -being the person who hasn't been too far around the world or even worse, around Indonesia- find this a new experience to date. Hahaha.

The fourth day, heading back to Medan. Look at us. The so-not-want-to go-home look and outfit. Boring...........

Photobucket

This is not some fancy trip, yet to me, it is a perfect getaway from my boring, monotone, full-of-pressure life. And of course, it is an excellent opportunity to play dollhouse, y'all!!! It is like a themed occasion. I always love events with dress-codes to follow. In this case, the theme is "Tropical Beach"
And read what Fran said the other day after we're back to Medan.
"We only went to Sabang, but look at our outfits. It is as if we were vacationing in Maldieve!!"
HAHAHA.
Well, she said so, not me. I don't think we are Maldieve quality yet, but..yeah...., we did look nice.
In fact, Fran came up with an acronym to the situation.
WWSC, stands for why we so cute.

Photobucket

Fran : Ooo....wwsc
Lind : Well, it's not our fault we're cute.
Fran : Yeah, I know.... (sighh.....)

Gives me the goosebumps (shudder..........)

Photobucket

Adios, everyone. Don't visit Sabang. It's technically and officially mine.
